Summer Skincare Favourites

Spread the love

I have discovered a few new skincare favourites lately, through Birchbox, brands very kindly gifting me products and through recommendations from friends. They’re all great for dry and sensitive skin, although there are a couple I avoid if my eczema is actively flaring. But other than that I’ve found a routine I’m really happy with and providing the eczema doesn’t reappear on my face I think i’ll be good for a while!

Dr Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Mask

This is my newest discovery, I got it in a recent Birchbox and it smelt amazing so I wanted to try it out straight away. It’s absolutely divine, feels really luxurious on the skin and is designed to be used overnight so you wake up with the smoothest and most hydrated skin. Just apply to clean dry skin, and then leave overnight before washing and cleansing your face as normal the next day. I’ve only used this a handful of times but I am honestly in love with it! I usually find that perfumed and delicious smelling products really aggrevate my skin but this doesn’t at all, so I recommend it to my dry skin buddies.

Eyewake Intense Face Cream

The wonderful team at Eyewake sent me their face cream to try out, which I was super excited about as I received their eye gel a while back and loved it. I’ve been using it a couple of weeks now, each morning as part of my skincare routine and it’s safe to say it’s a favourite already. It feels really luxurious and leaves my skin feeling really hydrated, even after wearing makeup all day. It also makes for a great base before makeup too, and I’ve noticed that my foundation doesn’t cling to dry patches as much. Definitely one i’ll be using for a while!

Lush Celestial Moisturiser

Okay, so this one is a bit of a curve ball, picked it up on a whim and it took me a while to decide if I actually liked it or not. But after a good trial I think I do. Firstly, this is useless if you want a quick absorbing moisturiser that’s good for applying makeup on top of. It’s really thick, and takes quite a while to soak in. However, when it does soak in it leaves your skin feeling amazing! It smells gorgeous, and a little goes a really long way. This is a great product for those lazy no make up Sundays, or as a pamper treat before bed. It’s quite a pricey product, sitting at around £15, but a fab little treat for your skin a couple of times a week.

Skinkissed Serum

I was kindly sent this by the Skinkissed team a little while ago. I wasn’t sure how my skin would cope at first, it doesn’t usually agree with concentrated serums, as they’re quite powerful on sensitive skin. But this is nice, granted I don’t use it when my skin is broken and flaring as it stings like a mofo, but on those better skin days it really helps to make my face look dewy and healthier, and is great under makeup! Definitely one to keep in my routine for the foreseeable future.

Please remember, i’m not recommending these for helping your eczema, on my flare days I just use my prescribed moisturisers, and nothing else. After extensive patch tests I know I’m not actively allergic to any products, so providing i’m not flaring i’m generally safe to use most skincare products.
