It’s spring! The time of year when we often mistake sunlight for warmth, dress for summer and then leave the house only to get rained on and for me, time to get out some of my spring beauty essentials. Away with the dark lip and full coverage, heavier foundations and in with pinks, nudes and glowy skin.
Just a reminder that I am not a makeup artist or a professional in any way! This is just what I consider are spring essentials for me 🙂 Make sure you let me know what your spring essentials are!
Primer, foundation and concealer
I absolutely love the l’Oreal Lumi Magique primer. I find it evens out all my imperfections, hydrates my dry skin and leaves my face glowing, perfect for spring! I have on occasion, just popped a bit of this on and not bothered with foundation or concealer, that is only if I am having a really good skin day though! 😉
I recently picked up the Bourjois Paris healthy mix foundation. I needed something that was a little less heavy on my skin and that looked a bit more glowing and hydrating. I have heard that this foundation is good for dry skin so I picked it up in the shade vanilla and it is the perfect shade! I think this is the perfect foundation for this season, it’s medium coverage and very hydrating, I love it! I think this will become a very regular foundation in my makeup bag.
I don’t own any high end concealers, in fact I think I own about 3 different concealers, maybe it’s time I expand my range? Stay tuned! At the moment I love the collection lasting perfection concealer in the shade, light. Well loved as you can see from the picture, I use it to brighten under my eyes and hide my dark circles. If you don’t have this in your makeup collection, get it!
Bronzer and blush
Bronzer & highlight
I go a little lighter on the bronzer and contour products for everyday spring makeup, I keep it a little more natural. This Maybelline Master Sculpt is the perfect contour and highlight for day to day looks. It’s subtle and is perfect for making my face look a little more sun kissed.
I picked up this blush as part of a collection from the L’Oreal sculpt range. I’m not always keen on really pink blushes, so when I saw this I had to get it. I swirl all the colours together and just pop a little on, this is super pigmented so you don’t need much to give your cheeks a lovely glow!
To be honest, my mascara doesn’t really change season to season, so I thought I would share with you what I am loving at the moment. The Maybelline the falsies push up drama mascara is my new favourite! Maybelline mascaras are always my favourite and give lots of volume to my virtually non existent lashes!
I am currently experimenting with lots of different eyeshadows, trying to go for brighter colours as it is all too easy to go for the same thing everyday. However, most days I will just pick up this Maybelline The Nudes palette as I feel you can do looks for anytime of day or season! I do tend to stick to the lighter colours for the spring and I keep it super natural and simple.
I have three lip favourites for this season!
Again Maybelline is making an appearance! I love their super stay 24 hour colour, I have a couple of shades, but the one here is ‘pink spice’ It is a little more pink than it shows in the picture, but it is the perfect everyday colour for spring/summer.
I also have a couple of Sleek matte lip creams. I have the shades petal and birthday suit. Again, I think these are great for everyday make up looks. The shade ‘birthday suit’ is my current favourite nude lip colour and they are super affordable at around £5 each.
Well, that’s it! My spring essentials. I am hoping to do some looks with these to share on my blog and maybe YouTube channel so stay tuned! And let me know what your spring beauty essentials are.
