Foundations are the beauty product I have always struggled with, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I am super pale so finding a shade that doesn’t make my face look orange isn’t easy. Secondly, I suffer from extremely dry skin and eczema. Finding a foundation that doesn’t cake, cling to my dry patches or last less than a couple of hours isn’t easy, I think the I am still to find my holy grail product. But I have three foundations that I am loving right now and that I reach for on a daily basis.
Starting with highstreet/drugstore foundations, I have two from L’Oreal Paris which are up there with my favourites. L’Oreal True Match foundation is a product I have been using for quite a while, it was the first foundation that I found that didn’t make me look like a cakey mess! I am unsure on the shade I have because I have used it that much that all the label has rubbed off, but I am quite pale so I am pretty sure its one of the lightest shades going! I have virtually used the entire bottle, something I have never done before so I will definitely be repurchasing this, when I can remember what shade I am!
I also have the L’Oreal Infallible 24h foundation. I absolutely adore this foundation but I think I need to make a trip back to Boots or Superdrug to pick up a slightly lighter shade as the shade I have (120 Vanilla) its a smidgen too dark, especially for this time of year when I am paler than ever! This, like the true match foundation, doesn’t seem to cling to my dry patches, providing I’m gentle with the amount I apply. Because my skin is so dry I find that if I put a little too much product on my face it cakes super easy and doesn’t always blend well. But I am learning to use just a little less product and get the results I want! I like a fuller coverage foundation and both of these L’Oreal ones give me the coverage I want.
Now to my favourite high end foundation. I am still pretty new to high end products so my collection is pretty small but the one high end foundation I do own is the Smashbox Studio Skin 15 hour wear in the shade 1.1. I was unsure about whether I wanted to spend the money on this foundation, but I am so glad I did because it is without a doubt the best foundation I own. I got colour matched, as I am rubbish at finding the right shade myself and didn’t want to buy something expensive only for it to be the wrong shade! It matches my skin perfectly, really easy to blend and lasts all day. I definitely think I will be looking into higher end foundations more often as I really believe you get what you pay for. I may have to pop my Mac and/or Nars cherry and have a look at some of their foundations. Any suggestions on which would be great for dry skin please do let me know! And in fact any other brand that I can look into, I am open to trying anything!
